Urban sprawl is shifting paradigms addressing population growth and infrastructure development. Natural occurrences such as climate change have impacted planning trends within cities & communities. New forms of town planning initiatives foster sustainable growth for smart cities, which foster public information and data that assist in the planning efforts. The Dominican Republic can foster such tools to integrate urban connectivity within spatial & geographic boundaries through a series of open spaces defined as ‘Green Belts’.
This urban design strategy has enhancing the environmental landscape through balanced optimization in policy, planning & design.
