Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York University
New York, NY 9,000 SF
NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts is one of lower Manhattan’s premier venues for cultural programming. The 860-seat theater, though reasonably new, had not been operating to its full potential and was beginning to shed its core audience—elderly patrons who regularly access the center’s community programs.
RGA was commissioned to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to address key issues and propose ideas to elevate the visitor experience. His recommendations include improvements to seating, stairs and visitor circulation—all fundamental to the center’s core constituency—as well as a short- and long-term implementation plan. The plan, which was developed around the theater’s active performance schedule, includes a cost model overlay so the University can assess timing as a function of projected revenue.
